The downtown stations, one by one

Before there was a Strip, there was Fremont Street. It was closed to cars in 1994, and the Fremont Street Experience opened on Dec. 14, 1995.

Fremont Street Experience Approved

Under the canopy. Viva Vision is about 1,375 ft long and about 90 ft up, with 49 million-plus LEDs; shows run at the top of every hour from 6pm to 2am, with live music on three stages nightly.

Slotzilla Approved

Named for SlotZilla at 425 Fremont St, the east end of the canopy. Its Zip Line launches seated from 77 ft and runs three blocks; the Zoom Line launches riders lying flat from 11 stories and runs five blocks. The canopy’s parking garage entrance is at 4th St & Carson Ave, beside the tower.

Garage Mahal at Circa Approved

Named for Circa’s parking garage. Circa sits at 8 Fremont St at the west end of the canopy, and lists Stadium Swim and Vegas Vickie’s among its venues. Next door, the Golden Gate calls itself “The Las Vegas Original Since 1906” and the oldest hotel in Las Vegas.

Plaza Approved

At the Plaza Hotel & Casino, 1 Main St. The Plaza opened in 1971 as the Union Plaza Hotel, on the site of Las Vegas’s first train depot, built in 1905 by the San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad. Oscar’s Steakhouse sits under the glass dome looking straight down Fremont Street.

El Cortez Proposed

At 600 E Fremont St. El Cortez opened in 1941 and calls itself the longest continuously running hotel and casino in Las Vegas. Its facade has been the same since 1952, and on Feb 22, 2013 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This is the Fremont East end: classic neon, bars and Container Park.

City Hall Proposed

At Las Vegas City Hall, 495 S Main St. Bonneville Transit Center, RTC’s downtown hub where the Deuce stops, is about 5 minutes away on foot (our estimate), and The Smith Center opened on March 10, 2012 in Symphony Park, a few blocks west.

World Market Center Proposed

At 475 S Grand Central Pkwy. It hosts Las Vegas Market, a home-furnishings and gift trade market with 3,500-plus brands across four buildings. Neighboring Symphony Park is covered on our Symphony Park & Medical District page.

The Strat station, also in the 2022 agreement, has its own page.
